August 22 is Yvie Oddly’s birthday.
I was thrilled when Yvie Oddly took the crown on Season 11 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” even though she was up against my fellow Canadian, Brooke Lynn Hytes, in the finale. Honestly, it could have gone either way and I still would have been happy. Usually I have a favorite. This season, I had two favorites.
Yvie Oddly is probably a Leo, but the sun did change signs in Denver, Colorado at 8:50 PM on the day of her birthday, meaning that there is a slight chance that she is a Virgo. I’m going to play the odds, though, and assume that she is a Leo because the one queen with whom she shares the most in common is also a Leo. Yes, I’m talking about Manila Luzon.
Yvie is more hard-edged than Manila, but they both have a distinctly scene-stealing style that has not been eclipsed by any other contestant on “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” I can see how Yvie’s character goes a little darker and a little more dangerous than Manila’s because of her Scorpio moon. Manila has a Sagittarius moon, giving her a broader base of references with which to work, and a more universal style overall.
Alexis Matteo, Kim Chi and Kameron Michaels are also Leo natives who made it far on the show. Some sources claim that Trixie Mattel is a Leo, but her chart on astrotheme.com tells me otherwise. Kameron Michaels also has a birthday on a day that the sun switched signs, but I get Leo vibes from her costumes.
Anyway, I’m getting a lot of traffic on this blog because of my “Drag Race Astrology” category. While I’m supposed to be working on my “Real Housewives Astrology” project, a little voice in my head is pulling me in this other direction. I’m just not sure which muse I should follow: the drag queen voice in my head that is telling me to write a book about Yvie Oddly and the rest of the “Drag Race” crew, or the housewife voice in my head that is telling me to write a book about the women on the “Housewives” shows who just look and act like drag queens.
Whatever I decide, I need to get on it while these shows are still hot. Stay tuned for more updates . . .
