Star Struck Style

Lately, I haven’t seen a lot of grasshoppers where I live. We’ve had the greatest amount of rainfall ever recorded in a summer in this part of the world, and I guess it affected the grasshoppers’ breeding season. I believe that they like hot, dry weather.

Anyway, I was thinking about grasshoppers because the sun entered my eleventh house late last night, just at it approaches the Leo/Virgo cusp. It’s an interesting time of year for me because I become more sociable right around the same time that I want to “make hay while the sun is shining.” In the classic fable of the grasshopper and the ant, I’m like a hybrid of the two insects rather than just a hardworking ant or a grasshopper that likes to goof around.

I have picked up a bunch of shifts at both of my places of employment, and I’m still doing some administrative work from home for one my employers. Nevertheless, I would like to work on my social life in this new phase. Both of the places where I work are a madhouse in August and early September, so it can be difficult for me to put myself out there when all I want to do is escape from the noise, but I am capable of striking a balance between my desire to connect with others and my urge to get away from it all. My horoscope on astro.com describing the sun’s ingress into my eleventh house encourages me to do just that:

“At this time it is usually best to work and cooperate with other people. At other times you have found it necessary to be alone in order to find out who you are and the chief purposes of your life. Now you must ask these same questions in conjunction with others. Engaging in group efforts and projects in your personal and professional life will be the most effective way to accomplish this aim. Socialize extensively and study the people you associate with, for they are a reflection of yourself. What is true of your friends is also true of you, for the most part. Among your friends, strive to establish who you are. Without becoming domineering, you should let them know what kind of person you are, so that you can fit into the group dynamic without violating your integrity.”

I don’t believe that taking this advice will be much of a challenge for me. Venus enters my first house early next week, so I shouldn’t have a difficult time turning on the charm and fitting into “the group dynamic.” It’s a good layout, and one that should see me continuing to emulate both the grasshopper and the ant well into the end of the year.
