I was thrilled to see Péter Magyar defeat Viktor Orban in the Hungarian election earlier this week. Of course, the first thing I did after I learned of his victory was punch up his chart on astrotheme.com. Imagine my surprise when I discovered how much he has in common with my country’s Prime Minister, Mark Carney. Both men share a 25° Pisces sun and a 19° Venus in Pisces. What’s more, Maygar shares his third-house sun/third-house Mercury combination with me. If you’ve read my blog at all, I incessantly talk about how those planetary placements have shaped who I am.
I didn’t really know anything else about Magyar besides the fact that he was opposing Orban. Shortly after his election, I saw him visit a television station where he told the interviewer that he was planning to shut down the station that had been lying to the Hungarian people for years. Anyone who knows me also knows how much I love to see bad things happening to bad people, and watching the interviewer squirm as Magyar detailed the lies they had told about him was the highlight of my week. It even eclipsed Mark Carney’s byelection wins that secured his party a majority government in the Canadian House of Commons.
My Libra rising sign has something to do with my strong sense of justice. Libra is also prominent in Magyar’s chart. Jupiter, the ruler of his idealistic Sagittarius rising sign, is conjunct Saturn in Libra by less than a degree. The so-called “Great Conjunction” occurs in his tenth house, making Jupiter the most-elevated planet in his horoscope. This guy was destined for great things and he’s got the ambition to make those things happen, so I hope that this is just the beginning of the end for the authoritarian movement in Hungary. I also hope that this trend will continue in my part of the world. My provincial government is an embarrassment. Like Donald Trump, they have pulled a page from Orban’s playbook and are determined to undermine democracy to keep themselves in power. I just hope that someone like Carney will come to our rescue because it’s distressing to feel like the bad guys are winning.
I guess I’ll find out soon enough . . .
