Common Grackle (source: Eagle Times)

If I was a bird, I’d probably be a grackle. They like to spend their winters in Las Vegas and their summers in Western Canada, just like me. I actually have a Jared Lang shirt that looks just like a grackle’s plumage. I didn’t realize that until now.

But I digress! The reason that I was thinking about birds this morning is because I just read the following passage on “The Dark Pixie Astrology” describing the ingress of Venus into my ninth house:

“When transit Venus is in your 9th house, you want someone who is free as a bird and can take you along on their fun adventures. If they can expand your mind, make you see things differently from the way you have before, and open you up to new ways of thinking and living, you’ll follow them anywhere. You could take a long trip and meet someone on your travels, or become interested in someone from a foreign country or who lives an entirely different lifestyle than you do. You could take a class in something new and meet someone there, or become interested in a teacher, philosopher, pilot, linguist, writer, or overall thrill-seeker. You find greatest pleasure in expanding your mind and having new experiences that allow you to learn and teach others what you’ve learned. This can be a good time for writing and speaking.”

While it would be nice to meet someone as “free as a bird” to take me along on their adventures, I’m going to have to be that bird because of the current COVID-19 restrictions. I suppose that’s okay: I can be my own spirit animal during this thirty-day transit.

I do hope that “writing and speaking” come easier to me now that Venus has moved out of my eighth house. One of the things I like about the grackles I see in Las Vegas is how noisy they are. I once had a suite at the MGM on a lower floor that was flanked by palm trees full of noisy grackles. I’m sure that everyone else nearby hated to listen to them, but I was delighted to wake up to their chatter.

Anyway, I’m happy to know that my horoscope is changing today. I’ve been stressed out for a couple of days by both the current cosmic weather and the actual weather — we had frost last night in this part of the world! I’m sure that the grackles who just arrived here from the south of the border were not too happy about the last gasp of winter, either. But that’s all behind us now. It’s time to spread our wings and fly!

Maybe I’ll start by putting on my grackle shirt . . .

Looking back at this post (and some other posts I published about Venus’ transit through the ninth house), I have to admit that I don’t really spread my wings and fly away when the ruler of my ascendant enters this part of my chart.
