Saturn entered Aquarius yesterday (or the day before yesterday, depending upon where you live). The last time Saturn changed signs, I was messaging back and forth with a fellow astrologer who had decided to use the planet’s ingress into another sign to launch a fitness routine. It was an admirable goal. However, I looked at his chart and immediately noticed an aspect to his natal Neptune that made me feel as if he was fooling himself. Then, over the next couple of weeks, I watched his newly-adopted fitness routine fizzle out before my very eyes.
I could brag about how I saw something in his chart that he didn’t see, but that’s actually beside the point. I’ve made the same mistakes in the past by expecting a Saturn ingress to change things overnight. If there is one thing that I’ve learned about Saturn in more than three decades of studying astrology it is that nothing happens quickly under Saturn’s influence. My predictions about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn being Karmic for Donald Trump are a prime example of my own misinterpretations of the ringed planet’s influence. It took almost three years to see the stupid fucker get what was coming to him, despite my wishful thinking that it would happen sooner.
Yet something happened yesterday that made me reconsider my position on Saturn once again. Not one, not two, but three of my friends who are all notorious for their reluctance to use social media were suddenly active again. In fact, one who has never posted a photo of herself online actually updated her Facebook profile yesterday, including her bio and a couple of recent photos. She has an Aquarius sun. I could barely believe it!
Saturn’s transit through Aquarius should have a profound effect on the social media platforms we use. However, the changes will be slow and steady, and difficult to assess until we’re looking at them in retrospect. For now, though, it’s interesting to see a shift on the very first day that the planet spent in the sign. Now I want to go back and see if anything similar happened in March when Saturn made its initial ingress into Aquarius before its retrograde cycle took it back to Capricorn for much of the summer and fall.
In the meantime, I am going to make a big prediction about Saturn in Aquarius. I already hear the rumblings from Americans in positions of power who want to break up the big social media platforms. I believe that’s going to happen, but when Saturn enters Pisces in 2023, the playing field is already going to look a lot different than it does now. Pluto finally makes its way into Aquarius just a couple of weeks after Saturn moves into Pisces, slowing down the pace of this cultural shift and making the changes seem almost imperceptible.
I know that its not very bold to predict that technology and tech companies will somehow seem different in a couple of years, but I want to emphasize that the change will be something that no one saw coming. When I revisit this post in twenty-seven months from now, I want to be able to brag about what a great astrologer I am. Looking back at my overenthusiastic predictions about Donald Trump’s demise have both humbled me and made me eager to improve my record.
Come through, Saturn in Aquarius!

Wow! Check out the predictions I made regarding the social media landscape and Saturn’s transit through Aquarius. The ringed planet doesn’t move into Pisces in March, so expect more of the unexpected over the next few months. Are you listening, Elon Musk?
