Pluto (source: Forbes)

With Pluto getting ready to make its move into Aquarius, I thought that I ought to take a look at what happened to me the last time that that planet moved from one sign to another. What I discovered sort of surprised me.

The year was 2008, and I had started a new part-time job selling fitness equipment at a department store just a few months before. I had recently got myself out of debt after a few years of being terribly underemployed, and I was trying to figure out a way to put myself onto a new path toward prosperity. Curiously, the first cheque that I received after the “new year rush” of fitness equipment sales came within days of when Pluto moved into Capricorn: my solar first house. I had no idea that my new job was going to be so lucrative! I hadn’t earned that much money in such a short amount of time in several years.

Over the next few months, I realized how easy it was for me to make money at that job. I took over each seasonal department of the store where I worked and transformed them into virtual cash-machines. I was really good at what I was doing, and if it wasn’t for the gross mismanagement and utter corruption of the business at the highest levels, I would probably still be working there today.

Thinking back about this period of my life, I realized that I became far more Capricorn-like in my way of thinking. Pluto’s transit through the sign taught me to capitalize on the opportunities that were right before me. While the planet moved through Sagittarius (my solar twelfth house), I used my imagination to realize my dreams of becoming a successful writer. That actually worked out quite well for a while, until I realized how much I loathed working from home. Once I admitted that to myself, I was able to embrace what I considered to be the more-materialistic side of my sun sign. I fought that impulse for much of my life.

All this makes me wonder how Pluto’s ingress into my solar second house will affect me. The second house is associated with the notion of worth. It rules over things like earthly possessions and the concept of value. Will I experience a transformation in what I value over the next couple of decades? Maybe I will!

Anyway, Pluto dips into Aquarius and then backtracks into Capricorn a couple of times. This interesting article on astro.com includes the specific dates:

  • Pluto in Capricorn until 3/23/2023
  • Pluto first in Aquarius: 3/23/2023 to 6/11/2023
  • Pluto back in Capricorn: 6/11/2023 to 1/21/2024
  • Pluto again in Aquarius: 1/21/2024 to 9/2/2024
  • Pluto back in Capricorn: 9/2/2024 to 11/19/2024
  • Pluto finally in Aquarius: 11/19/2024

What interests me the most about this upcoming period is that I will not only be experiencing my second Saturn return while all this is happening, but I’ll also be experiencing the once-in-a-lifetime trine between Uranus and Pluto on a personal level because I was born in 1966 while these planets were conjunct.

I believe that this all bodes well for this old goat. I’m not afraid of my Saturn return, and I’m not afraid of the influence that these slow-moving planets will have on me now that they’re all ascending toward the top of my chart. Symbolically, that’s encouraging to me. I’m a Capricorn! If it takes me forever to climb the mountain, it doesn’t matter. I know that I’m going to get there in the end.
