I’ve said it a million times before on this blog: Mars isn’t that important in my chart. Still, I often find myself wondering how its movements through the sky are going to affect me.
I just looked up where Mars will station now that it is in the sign where it will experience its upcoming retrograde cycle. It’s going to park itself at a degree in Gemini that is roughly the midpoint between my Mercury/Jupiter opposition. That axis is a unique feature of my horoscope. I have Mercury in Sagittarius in the third house in mutual reception with Jupiter in Gemini in the ninth house. They are in opposition to one another, but with a four-degree orb.
Mars’ station at 25°37″ Gemini on Halloween is going to occur within a couple of degrees from my natal Jupiter, and therefore it will be opposing my natal Mercury.
I know exactly what is about to happen. I have a new job. I was asked to take my final week of vacation before the last week of October because of an upcoming change to the way we will be doing business going forward. The last time something like that happened, everyone was screaming bloody murder.
I’m more adaptable than most people, so I’ll be fine. And because my character is not terribly “Martian,” I’m not going to worry about it. However, the last line of this “Café Astrology” horoscope detailing Mars’ transit through the ninth house does offer me a warning that I intend to take seriously:
“During this period, you are especially enthusiastic and more bold than usual. Some restlessness and hunger for adventure is experienced now. Essentially, you are looking to expand your activities, and you may find that you have a lot of energy for higher studies, travel, or simply new subjects. Negative potentials include being excessively opinionated or getting easily fired up over differences in points of view, or legal fights.”
While Mars is stationary, I’m also going to have the sun, Mercury and Venus in my first house. I’m going to be confident, so I will need to be sure that I don’t become overconfident. I might be in charge of my department at work now, but I still will have to answer to the people who make the rules. So, I’m going to attempt to keep my thoughts to myself, and I’m going to start practicing for this potentially volatile cycle right now so that it doesn’t sneak up on me like Michael Myers in a “Halloween” movie.
