Star Struck Style

After telling myself I wasn’t going to buy anything during the Black Friday shopping season, I bought some shoes a couple of days ago. I don’t need them yet, but I’m going to need them soon. The shoes I use at the gym to lead my bike classes are close to the end of their life-cycle. I buy these Asics trail runners because they have a sturdy, stiff bottom that fits the clip of a spin bike well. I don’t like to wear cycling shoes because I have enough crap to carry to the gym already. Anyway, I wear a lot of red and black, the price was right and I would have ended up buying them at sometime, so I can’t feel guilty about making this prudent purchase. I also can’t feel guilty about the $1000 I’m probably going to spend at the dentist later today.

However, I’m still going to need to curb my enthusiasm when it comes to online shopping. I wanted to see if I had previously discussed the conjunction between Venus and the sun that I’m about to experience, so I searched this blog to see what I had written about the subject. What I discovered is that I almost bought a pair of beautiful Bottega Veneta leather gloves during a meeting of these two planets a few years ago, and that I actually bought my Tom Ford jeans during another conjunction.

Both of those episodes were conjunctions between the heavenly bodies in transit. This week’s conjunction has transiting Venus crossing over my natal sun, so perhaps it will be different. “Café Astrology” describes the event as follows:

Hopefully, I’ll be able to turn on the charm and not have to worry about buying things to make myself feel good. The conjunction will affect me throughout both Tuesday and Wednesday, and I actually have an extra day off work on Wednesday which could be an invitation for me to get into trouble. On a more positive note, I should have a few yet-to-be-scheduled meetings this week that could impact my career prospects. Wouldn’t it be great if I was able to coordinate those meetings with this annual planetary aspect?

If that doesn’t happen, maybe I should just put on my new shoes and head for the gym. I can’t spend money while I’m there, but I can show off my “charming, caring, and attractive side” to anyone who wants to see it. I was thinking about going to the mall on Wednesday, but I don’t believe that I can trust myself when my luxury-loving ruling planet meets my status-conscious sun. I’ll probably come home with a Louis Vuitton backpack or something else I can’t afford right now.
