Bimini Bon Boulash (source: Vogue UK)

Even though I had predicted that Lawrence Chaney was going to win Season 2 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK,” I was surprised when it happened. Bimini Bon Boulash came out swinging in the second half of the season and she really seemed like the frontrunner going into last night’s finale. Oh well! I like Lawrence, too, even though he was a total ass to Ellie Diamond in the final few episodes. That was passive/aggressive Libra bullshit at its finest. His fellow Librans should be proud.

Anyway, Lawrence is the first Libra to win the “Drag Race” crown on an English-speaking version of the show (Thailand’s Angele Anang is also a Libra). The Vivienne was the first Aries to win. The American version of the show has never seen either of those zodiac signs make it all the way to the top.

If Bimini had won, she would have been both the second Taurus to wear the crown and the second Taurus to win Season 2 on any English-speaking version of the show. Tyra Sanchez is the the only Taurus winner in US “Drag Race” herstory (Envy Peru did snatch the crown on “Drag Race Holland,” too). The biggest difference between Tyra and Bimini, however, is that Bimini is likable.

It’s going to be interesting to see who wins Season 13 of the American version of the franchise now that there aren’t a lot of queens still in the running. Three of the remaining queens were born under signs that have never won: Scorpio and Capricorn. Symone, the obvious frontrunner, is a goat just like me. Kandy Muse and Tina Burner are Scorpios, like RuPaul and Sherry Pie. Rosé and Utica are Geminis, Gottmik is a Leo and Olivia Lux is a Pisces.

I doubt that anyone can stop Symone’s ascent up the mountain, but stranger things have happened. Still, I’m going to stick to my guns and predict that she will win Season 13. Although Lawrence’s win surprised me last night, I never did publish a retraction for my original prediction, so I guess I’m a winner, too. I suppose there’s a first for everything . . .
