The new moon arrives in my second house in just a few minutes from now. Ugh!

The reason that I’m not delighted about the astrological event is because of what it signifies to me: it’s budget time. I’m going to Las Vegas in 111 days (but who’s counting), and I really need to tighten my belt.

Cafe Astrology has this to say about the new moon in this sector of the horoscope:

“Heightened sensitivity to the world of the five senses, to your physical environment, and to the security you gain from the solid ground you have built for yourself is in order for this period of time. Attunement to, and appreciation of, the physical world of the senses is the focus, and this is a time to start fresh in terms of how you arrange your life in order to feel a sense of value and worthiness. Financial issues come into focus. Setting realistic financial goals, as well as formulating such things as budgets and other sensible financial planning projects, will be favored during this time. Discovering ways to increase your income is featured. It is also a wonderful time for taking moments to pleasure yourself through earthy, tactile, and comforting endeavors.”

On the bright side, “the solid ground” mentioned in this forecast is something I’ve been feeling underneath my feet for quite some time. Saturn in Capricorn already has me behaving in a more-grounded manner. When Jupiter moves into the same sign next week for a thirteen-month stay, I should be feeling more earthbound than ever before. Whether or not that translates to making “sensible” decisions with my resources is another matter. I can be a sucker for “earthy, tactile, and comforting endeavors,” and it isn’t difficult for me to spend money on things that feed my senses.

But I’m going to try to keep things in check. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday only days away, we’ll see what happens . . .
