Mercury moves back into Sagittarius today, where it will remain until January 4.
Mercury is in detriment in Sagittarius. It makes it difficult for us to focus on anything in particular. Often, the position manifests itself by providing us with minor distractions. Just a moment ago, I went looking for an image to illustrate this post. I found this photo of some Ford Focuses. A moment later, I was Googling the word “focuses,” wondering why the word has only one “s” when a word like “occurring” uses a double “r.” Before I knew it, I was on amazon.com shopping for a T-shirt that had nothing to do with anything else I had been doing.
It’s a sloppy placement for the planet. In a birth chart, Mercury in Sagittarius can be trouble. I have my natal Mercury in Sagittarius, but in the third house in mutual reception to Jupiter in Gemini. I can focus on the details and the big picture simultaneously. It’s just another one of those things that makes me so terrific. I know, right?
Anyway, try to avoid being distracted over the next couple of weeks. Collectively, we’re all going to be rather unfocused. I imagine that the sort of people who would take advantage of others will be empowered by the current planetary positions.
Mercury’s proximity to the sun makes this a regular occurrence this time of year, but this time it’s a little different. Both opportunism and use are in the air with Jupiter in Sagittarius and Saturn in Capricorn. The grifters amongst us are at the top of their game. Don’t give them the opportunity to use you.
