I had a really weird dream last night. I was at a party that was in the back yard of the house where I grew up. I was introduced to a smarmy Derek Blasberg-type whom I was told worked for Hearst Magazines. I mentioned that I also used to work for Hearst as a horoscope columnist for “Harper’s Bazaar.” A conversation about my other credentials ensued, and I was soon offered a job at “Cosmopolitan.” The problem was that I was offered a job that my friend was already doing. She was standing just behind me while it happened, unaware of the conversation going on almost right in front of her.
I remember feeling excited and guilty simultaneously. It was all quite vivid for a dream, and I remember weird little details, including taking a business card out of my wallet and putting it into the hand of the guy who offered me the job, essentially screwing my friend in the process.
Now my friend is not a writer, nor is she anyone whom I would compete with in a job search. She’s an Aries, so I’m trying to make sense of that part of the dream. I’m also wondering why the dream took place on a warm summer night in my parent’s back yard. Also, the significance of “Cosmopolitan” is quite puzzling, too. I’ll be the first person to admit that I was not the best fit at “Teen Vogue” when I worked there. I also believe that I would feel like a fish out of water at “Comsopolitan,” too. What do I know about twenty-something women who like to dress like hookers?
Anyway, I looked at my own horoscope and also at the current planetary placements and discovered that Mercury is making some harmonious aspects to my natal Uranus/Pluto conjunction, and to Chiron, the asteroid which opposed that configuration on the day I was born. Also, the sun opposes Uranus tomorrow shortly after it enters Scorpio. Just a few hours before that happens, the sun in Libra opposes my Part of Fortune in the final minutes of Aries.
There is a bunch of weirdness in my chart right now. To be honest, there’s a bunch of weirdness in everyone’s chart right now. Starting tomorrow, we’re in for a bunch of big shifts in the sky that will mark a three-week period of fairly rapid changes. Compared to the stagnant summer (astrologically speaking), this should be an active time in the charts of almost everyone.
So, should I also be expecting a big shift in my chart that effects my professional life? I hope so! I could use a change of pace. I don’t know if I want to screw over my friends in the process, but I’m not really sure if that’s what my dream is telling me to do. Making my Aries friend my foe may have been my mind’s way of telling me to compete just like an Aries native would compete. We all know how competitive those Aries natives are!
I’m going to go with that for now. We’ll see what happens over the next few weeks. Stay tuned . . .
