February 12 is Maud Adams’ birthday.
In my latest book, I acknowledge how difficult it is to stereotype Aquarius natives. I believe that there are three distinct types of Aquarius individuals that don’t have a lot in common with each other. However, there is one trait that most Aquarius natives share: a contrarian nature.
I imagine that anyone with the sun in Aquarius would disagree with me, but that’s my point. Aquarius individuals disagree just to disagree, often without a valid reason to take a contrary position.
Now I’m not saying that I am any different than the people I just mentioned, but I do have both Venus in Mars conjunct in my natal chart in Aquarius. In the grand scheme of things, Venus is personalized in my chart as the ruler of my ascendant. In the grand scheme of fashion astrology, Venus is an important indicator of taste.
So, do I have contrary tastes? Yes, I believe that I do. One of the reasons that I’ve been able to get jobs in the fashion business is that I have the good timing of a Capricorn combined with an innate ability sense what is fresh and what is stale in fashion. I attribute the latter quality to my natal Venus in Aquarius.
I probably noticed that I had a knack for recognizing “the next big thing” when I was a teenager. I graduated from high school in 1983, around the time that “Octopussy” was in theaters. At the time, I didn’t get Maud Adams. She seemed like such a throwback to seventies glamour to me. I was too busy marveling at the visionary glamour of stars like Annie Lennox and Boy George to even recognize how beautiful she was.
I guess that you could say that Venus in Aquarius got in my way. It made me so eager to embrace what was beautiful in the vanguard of fashion that I couldn’t even see what was right in front of me. That’s an Aquarius response if I’ve heard one. In my desire to play the contrarian, I didn’t give this remarkable woman her due.
Adams herself has the sun, moon and Mercury in Aquarius. I don’t really know that much about her, but she does fit into the “glamorous” Aquarius archetype that I discuss in “Star Struck Style,” along with women like Farrah Fawcett, Tina Louise, Morgan Fairchild, etc.
I wonder if she would agree with that? Probably not . . .
