December 11 is Rita Moreno’s birthday.
I have discussed Rita Moreno before (on my old blog, I believe), but I had never looked up her natal chart until just a moment ago. I don’t have a birth time to put everything in the chart into context. Still, there is plenty to go on!
Rita Moreno has the moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Saturn in Capricorn. The planets are spaced quite evenly throughout the sign in 4°-6° intervals. It’s a unique chart.
Obviously, this stellium is the hallmark of her horoscope. While Moreno can easily be compared to many other Sagittarius natives who have been described with the “Jack-of-all-trades” moniker, it’s not her ability to take on many different roles that has defined her: it is the fact that she has done so many things so well.
The Capricorn influence in her chart has likely created a character that is hard-working and — for lack of a better word — overachieving. Rita Moreno is one of only a few performers in history that has won an Oscar, an Emmy, a Grammy and a Tony.
There is one thing I wonder about after seeing all these planets in Capricorn. As a Capricorn myself, I love to be recognized for my achievements. However, when the time comes to be honored, I shrink away from the spotlight. I won a Volunteer of the Year award a couple of years back from the YMCA where I’ve been teaching fitness classes for the last twenty-seven years, and I skipped the award presentation. I’m not humble — anyone who knows me can attest to that. But when the time comes to get mine, I often take a step back. I appreciate the recognition, but the pomp and ceremony seems foolish to me.
I’d like to know how Rita Moreno feels about her achievements. I’d also like to know how she behaved when she accepted her awards. I’m going to poke around online and see if there is anything I can dig up.
