I was just musing over Saturn’s ingress into Capricorn. With exactly a month to go until the ringed planet leaves Sagittarius on December 20, the excitement I’m feeling is palpable.
Most people don’t get excited over Saturn transits. However, I’m a Capricorn with a natal chart that makes me thrive upon the slow and steady energy of the planet. I’m also getting older, like the guy in the photo, and I enjoy watching young people when they are forced to deal with the harsh realities of life. Saturn in Sagittarius has allowed youthful idealism to pervade every aspect of our lives, and yet the result has been unproductive. Just look at the US and the UK over the past couple of years. Are they better off than they were before they were hijacked by the juvenile lunatic fringe? I don’t think so. The people who believe that they are actually getting somewhere by clinging to the edges of the political spectrum are going to be in for a big surprise.
Sagittarius and Saturn couldn’t be comprised of more incompatible energies. I know that the planet is in detriment in other signs, but in my opinion, it performs its worst in Sagittarius. It makes us believe that shouting our opinions out loud is the same thing as progress. When the planet moves into Capricorn, genuine progress must occur. It provides us with a cosmic reset back to our default settings. We’re all going to have to meet in the middle if we expect to get anything done.
Saturn in Capricorn also favors the old, the experienced and the authentic. Just the other day I was looking around for ways to promote my blog and my book. I’m on Twitter and Instagram, of course, but neither of the social media platforms are proving to be that effective. The reason for that is that I don’t include a hundred hashtags with my posts in order to paint an inauthentic picture of who I am or what I do. That “fake it ’til you make it” image is a Sagittarius construct. In a month, many people who have achieved success by conflating their social media personae are going to find that the house of cards they have built online is about to collapse.
In this new era, authentic talent will prevail. It has to prevail. For that reason, I’m optimistic about my own prospects. I’m a quality-over-quantity guy, and I’m good at what I do. I’m not one of these astrologers who posts inane GIFs on Facebook that have nothing to do with the actual traditions of astrology. I might work in a branch of astrology that seems odd, but it’s all based on tradition. With Saturn in Capricorn, the fakers will fall to the wayside if they offer nothing more than a conflated self-image and a product based upon a talent they don’t possess. If you are going to sell yourself to the highest bidder in 2018, you better have something to sell.
By the way, did I mention that I just published a new book? Click the link above for more information . . .
