Burglar (source: Merriam-Webster)

I’m a creative guy. That’s how I came up with the idea for my first book, “Cosmically Chic.” I said to myself “How can I get my foot in the door of the fashion business when I live thousands of miles away from the fashion capitals?” Creatively combining fashion advice with astrology was the answer, and my one-of-a-kind career was born.

It wasn’t long, however, before I started to see people stealing my shtick. In fact, on the advice of my editor, I sent a galley copy of my book to a very prominent fashion writer to get a cover quote. Even though he had agreed to help me out over the phone, I didn’t hear back from him. Next thing I know, one of the magazines that he worked for was publishing its own fashion astrology feature. I knew that my book was used as a source for this ripoff because the author of the article had never written an astrology article in her entire career.

That incident was just the first of many. I am ripped off all the time! What really bothers me about people who steal from me is that I probably would have worked with them if they had only bothered to ask. Much of my success as a writer has come through the art of collaboration. I have Libra for my rising sign! I was born to team up with others!

After posting a goofy article about cheese the other day, someone else magically came up with their own cheese zodiac on another site. It’s not a big deal because my article is funny and their article is stupid, but c’mon! Why didn’t you just reach out to me in the first place? I probably would have worked with you for a simple plug. I’ve got a new book to promote. I’m eager to do whatever I can to get the word out.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post warning people to be on their best behavior because of the Karmic positions of a few of the planets. I actually saw plenty of Karma in action during this week’s American elections; plenty of assholes got what they deserved. I hope that plenty of the people who have screwed me in the past are going to get what they deserve, too. I should be more compassionate to their plight (being morally-corrupt idiots), but I’ve been through this too many times before.

I wish them the worst.
