I keep coming across posts like this one where I discuss my annual autumn pilgrimage to Las Vegas. Of course, I’m not going to Sin City again until America does something about its Donald Trump problem, but that’s a story for another post.
What I want to discuss today is the weird, transient feeling I get that takes me back to my old haunt again and again. For some reason, I’ll be going about my business when suddenly I find myself right back in the casino of the Bellagio, or in a restaurant at the Park MGM, or strolling through the cactus garden outside the Aria. Something happens when the sun transits this part of my chart that makes me want nothing more than to live out the rest of my days in those familiar places.
I do possess a Cancer moon, and that can be a nostalgic placement for the luminary. But I don’t believe that’s what makes me feel this way. Having the sun in my first house could be making me feel decadent, but I almost always feel decadent. This is something else, like synesthesia. I see a color and I somehow smell the fragrance that they pump into the air at the MGM grand. I taste something familiar, and I start to hear the soft music that they play in the Wynn plaza.
Honestly, it makes me feel like I’m going crazy, but it also makes me feel like everything is connected in the same way that astrology makes me believe that everything is connected. I’m just not quite sure why this phenomenon becomes more pronounced this time of year. I do have some long-lasting Neptune transits active in my horoscope at the moment, but those delusion-inducing aspects don’t explain my previous blog posts in the same way that they explain my current state of mind.
Oh well! I can’t say that I mind feeling this way. I’ve got a few extra days off in the coming weeks to “check out” and give into my decadent nature. What’s more, the upcoming American election might change the way I feel about crossing the border in the future.
I guess I’ll find out soon enough . . .
