I haven’t blogged for a few days. My father passed away on the weekend. He was ninety-five, so it wasn’t unexpected. Over the last several months, the decline in his health and vitality was profound. He just started to fade away.

I feel like I’m in a different place this morning. The new moon just occurred a degree away from my midheaven. It was the second new moon to occur within the cusps of my ninth house. It’s already affected me because I woke up with a “don’t sweat the small stuff” attitude. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and all is good in my own little world.

I’m going to take this positive energy into this new phase of my life and try to enjoy myself from this position high atop my horoscope. I feel like I’m looking down at everyone and everything, taking in the so-called “big picture.” From this vantage point I can choose what I want to focus upon, and that doesn’t include a bunch of bullshit that doesn’t really matter to me. It’s a selfish place, but it’s also a place where I can concentrate on self-care and self-preservation: two things that are on my mind at the moment as I ponder my own mortality.

So, that’s what I’m going to do. Today is the first day of the rest of my life . . .
