Mercury enters my ninth house tomorrow morning. It breezes into my tenth house soon after, but then goes retrograde just three degrees from my midheaven, meaning that it will return to my ninth house for a few weeks in summer.
Anyway, I had a laugh a moment ago when I read my daily horoscope on astro.com describing the transit:
“This is a good time for any kind of study and education, because you are intellectually eager for knowledge and new experiences. You want to take a larger view of life in order to see how the various parts fit together to make up the whole. Any new and interesting phenomenon from a world outside your own is likely to attract your attention at this time. Subjects relating to foreign places, the law, philosophy or higher knowledge of any kind will engage your attention. It is possible that you may have some dealings with officials connected with the law, although you should not fear this possibility particularly. It is a good time to travel, because your curiosity makes travel very interesting to you. You are also quite open to alternative lifestyles at this time.”
Learning that I will be quite open to “alternative lifestyles” isn’t much of a revelation since I have been open to those lifestyles for my entire life. But simply reading the phrase “alternative lifestyles” in 2026 is hilarious to me because it seems like a throwback to the eighties.
I do hope that the next several weeks find me “intellectually eager for knowledge and new experiences” as the ninth house is going to be highlighted in my horoscope for much of the season. Perhaps I’ll allow my curiosity to take me into places I haven’t gone before, like trailer parks and church picnics. Maybe those are the “alternative lifestyles” I’ll be exploring in this new phase of my life. Or maybe not. Whatever happens, I’m feeling optimistic about what the warmer months have in store for me, just as I should when my ninth house becomes the busiest part of my chart.
Bring it on!
