Star Struck Style

Transiting Chiron moves within orb of an opposition to my ascendant today. The asteroid will be doing a little dance overtop that point of my natal chart for the next year or so.

My astro.com horoscope defines the transit more thoroughly than any other online source I could find in a quick search. Nevertheless, the forecast was exactly what I expected to read because — as the saying goes — I’ve been around the block a few times:

“Personal relationships will take on particular significance under this influence. People you haven’t seen for some time may, directly or indirectly, remind you of shared experiences. Although these memories might be painful, they give you the opportunity to realize that any deep or emotional relationship is in fact a gift. This realization may only come many years later, because the most healing experiences often occur in relationships with people you might wish you had never met.

You may feel that the time is now ripe to end some of your long-standing partnerships and friendships. By keeping relationships alive that only continue to survive in your imagination you could prevent yourself from having new relationships and experiences which better reflect your own inner maturity.

Relationships teach us a lot about loving ourselves. Those that are not good for you and in which you feel disregarded should now be dissolved. But at the same time, you should also explore the deeper reasons for this dynamic. If you want to be appreciated, you need to find a way to appreciate and accept yourself. Only when you can love and value the person you are today, will you attract people who can truly help you on your future path.”

Of course, this forecast discusses “healing experiences” like every other discussion of the asteroid does. However, I don’t like to feel as if I’m wounded. For that reason, I do look to Chiron’s transits for areas to strengthen my resolve with the sort of wisdom one accrues as they grow older. I went through a lot of bullshit while Chiron transited my sixth house, but almost all of that was focused upon the relationship between my self-worth and my so-called “career.” I quit a job I really enjoyed after ten years and suffered through a long bout of unemployment/underemployment that was exacerbated by the pandemic. After all that, I’m finally at a point where I feel as if my job (or lack of a job) doesn’t have to be the number-one cause of stress in my life. Others who experience a Chiron transit through their sixth house might experience a focus on health and other routine matters, but for me the focus was definitely on the notion of “service” because I’ve worked in the service industry for over four decades.

During this new phase, I do expect personal relationships to become my focus as indicated by the astro.com forecast. I just hope that I don’t have to go through crisis after crisis in order to experience the “healing” that Chiron promises. But if that is what the universe has in store for me over the next five years as the asteroid moves through my seventh house, I suppose that I’d better prepare to open up some old wounds.

I can take it. This won’t be the first time I’ve patched myself up, and I’m sure that it won’t be the last . . .
