Shooting Stars (source: LiveScience)

My eyes were on the stars yesterday morning while I was walking to work. It’s dark again early in the morning where I live, so I was able to see Jupiter and Mars in all their brilliant glory before the sun began to light up the sky. Jupiter is currently brighter than it has been for decades, and Mars is very high up in the sky just before dawn so that it appears quite red with little atmospheric interference to dim its shine.

What was even more interesting, though, was a shooting star I saw in the northwest. It was obviously coming straight toward me because it appeared as a single point of light that actually lit up sky for a brief moment. It was spectacular! There may have been a handful of people in the world who happened to be looking up at the sky at that very moment who got to see this cosmic event.

Of course, I made a wish upon that star. I’m obviously superstitious. I pick four-leaf clovers when I find them. I avoid walking under ladders. I change my path when black cats walk in front of me.

Anyway, I wished that I could be debt free by this time next year. The likelihood of that happening isn’t great, but it also isn’t impossible. I just need to be a lot less decadent. It could happen! I had already resolved to take a good look at my finances when the sun, the moon, Mercury and Venus all meet up in my second house this November. Maybe this shooting star was a sign from the universe that I’m on the right path since my mind immediately went to my desire to be debt-free when prompted to “make a wish.”

I guess I’ll see how this all works out when I revisit this post a year from now. In the meantime, wish me luck . . .
