Mercury moves into my sixth house tomorrow for a brief, twelve-day stay.
I’ve already got the sun in my orderly sixth house, and cleaning up my yard is on my mind. However, I live in a place where there is still snow on the ground. It’s unlikely that I will get anything done during this short-lived transit.
On the other hand, this transit turns my thoughts to organizing almost every aspect of my life. “Café Astrology” offers this interpretation of the annual event:
“This is a good placement for Mercury, as it is the natural ruler of the sixth house. It’s an excellent period for sorting out the details of your daily existence. You are inclined to make to-do lists, pay bills and sort out clutter, and to do detail work on the job. Health matters are most certainly on your brain as well, and you could be thinking of scheduling check-ups or busy researching ways to improve your health. You may also show a keener interest in improving your basic skills. Your approach to work during this cycle is pleasant, happy, and logical for the most part, unless you allow worry or scattered energy to enter the picture. You are inclined to want to learn new work skills, or to improve your skills and output in terms of work. There is likely to be more activity, movement, contact, and communications with co-workers now. You tend to take more interest in organizing your working environment — and this is an excellent time to do so, as you are especially objective and intelligent when it comes to getting a handle on your daily affairs and all of the ‘little things’ that contribute to a feeling of efficiency and competency. Menial tasks become more prominent. Watch, however, for tension or idle chit-chat interfering with your work output during this cycle.”
I do possess a character that is very Virgo-like, so sixth house transits make me feel as if I’m in my own element. Maybe I’ll clean out my closets, or get rid of some more of the junk in my basement. I’d be thrilled to have my house in order — both literally and figuratively — by the time gardening season actually arrives in this part of the world.
I could also use this time to search for a job that pays me what I’m worth. One of my greatest assets at any job I’ve ever had is the way that I bring order to chaos. Making that my selling point on a job application could be my ticket to success over the next couple of weeks. In late April, Jupiter enters the same part of my chart, and professional opportunities should be plentiful for the next several months. I’ve actually applied for one job that would likely hire in mid-May, right around the time when Jupiter would be conjoining my progressed Mercury in Aries. Perhaps a new career is in my stars!
Whatever happens, I’m thrilled to be entering an era where my sixth house is highlighted. Like being in my garden during spring clean-up, it’s where I’m at my best.

The sun and Mercury conjoin and enter my sixth house almost simultaneously tomorrow morning. In just a few days from now, both planets will also pass over my progressed Mercury. Hopefully, this blog post from last year contains a few hints about what I can expect.
