Star Struck Style

September 1 is Marjan Jonkman’s birthday.

It’s been a while since I’ve written a profile of a fashion personality on their birthday. I haven’t really been inspired by fashion lately. Maybe it was the pandemic, or maybe it was something in my own horoscope that threw a wet blanket on my creativity and made feel as if my voice needed to be muffled. Odds are that it was a combination of both.

Anyway, when I saw that it was Marjan Jonkman’s birthday, I did a Google Images search of the model and that actually got me excited. I miss fashion! I miss the runway shows, the models, the reviews, the interviews with designers, etc.

There’s an article on vogue.com today about what to expect from New York Fashion Week. I’m sure that the fourth wave of COVID-19 will mean that things are not back to normal, but with most people vaccinated, it’s going to be a lot closer to normal than it has been for the last few seasons. Maybe I’ll actually feel my heart beating while watching the shows!

I should be talking about Marjan Jonkman, but I really don’t know that much about her. I do know that Tom Ford, her fellow Virgo, likes her a lot; she’s kind of synonymous with the brand. I also know that she looks gorgeous in cornflower blue: a signature Virgo color. I’d look up her chart, but I feel like looking at F/W 2021 look books instead. I need get my head back into the game. Like all the models, designers and fashion critics out there, I’m ready for fashion to excite me again.
