April 22 is Kim Noorda’s birthday.
When I first started blogging about fashion, Kim Noorda was a big deal. She was on practically every major runway at every major show. But then she disappeared.
I remember reading an article about her on the “Vogue” website where she discussed her eating disorder. It made me sad, but I was glad that she recognized that she had a problem and was seeking help to get healthy. I hadn’t thought about her in a while, and then I stumbled across her name while looking at today’s celebrity birthdays.
It’s nice to know that she’s doing well. I guess that she stopped modeling for a while to get her head together. She went to school and worked in the real world (the sort of things most of us do when we’re not working the catwalks for a living). You can read more about her hiatus here.
I have to say that it doesn’t surprise me that she’s a Taurus. I always used to comment that she was just so much prettier than most of the girls on the runway. There are weird models, unique models, memorable models, etc., and then there are pretty models. Kim Noorda was the girl-next-door type who just happened to be tall and thin enough to fit into the sample sizes. She stood out because she was conventionally beautiful, with a sweet smile and a down-to-earth demeanor.
I hope to see more of her in the future. I could look at that face all day long.
