March 27 is Gloria Swanson’s birthday.
I can barely get through a conversation about Aries without mentioning that both Joan Crawford and Bette Davis share the sign. But they aren’t the only stars of the silver screen born under the sign of the ram.
Gloria Swanson is an Aries. There is a moment in her most-memorable film, “Sunset Boulevard,” that her character discusses astrology. According to that scene, Norma Desmond is a Scorpio. Curiously, not much about Norma Desmond gives me Scorpio vibes.
But everything about Gloria Swanson’s performance gives me Aries vibes. Lines like “I am big; it’s the pictures that got small” and “We didn’t need dialogue, we had faces” are the sort of things that you would expect to come out of the mouth of an Aries superstar today. I can imagine Aretha Franklin or Mariah Carey saying the same things today without a hint of irony.
What grabbed my attention when I looked at Gloria Swanson’s biography was her lifelong advocacy for vegetarianism and healthy living. I had a look at her natal chart to see if any planetary placements indicated a predisposition toward unconventional approaches to health and fitness, but I didn’t really come up with anything. It makes me suspect that the time of birth listed on astrotheme.com is incorrect. As I’ve mentioned a million times before on this blog, I can’t really trust a time of birth that was recorded more than a hundred years ago when I don’t know anything about the way it was recorded.
Nevertheless, I’m just going to add Gloria Swanson to the list of Aries divas that so often define the characteristics of the sign. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m ready for my close-up.
