Rene Russo (source: Vogue)

February 17 is Rene Russo’s birthday.

Rene Russo was a big model in the 1970s. However, by the time I knew who she was, she had already turned to acting. I first noticed her in “Outbreak,” one of my favorite so-bad-it’s-good movies. It was only after “Vogue” and other magazines started to publish their cover archives online that I began to appreciate her contributions to the world of fashion.

For the sake of curiosity, I had a look at her natal chart. It’s very interesting. She was born just a few hours before the full moon in Leo. She has an Aquarius rising sign with the sun in her first house, along with both Mercury and Venus in Pisces in her first house. Her natal Mars is less than a degree from her Sagittarius midheaven in her tenth house.

This is the chart of someone who was born to be famous, and I don’t believe for a minute that she didn’t know that she was born to be famous. According to Wikipedia, she grew up in Burbank and went to high school with people like Ron Howard. Even if she wasn’t born beautiful, she would have found her way into show business, probably on the other side of the camera.

However, her Wikipedia biography also mentions that she has bipolar disorder. I’m sure that a lot of other astrologers would be happy to peruse her chart to look for indications of mental illness, but that’s just not my thing. In fact, it sort of takes me out of my element. I’d rather look at the position of the sun and Venus while wondering aloud if that’s something I’ve seen in the charts of other beautiful women.

I guess we all have our specialties . . .
