November 14 is Veronica Lake’s birthday.

In “Star Struck Style,” I make a point of mentioning that three of the biggest hair icons in show business have been Aquarius natives. There are a few Scorpios whose hairstyles have also become iconic. I just republished a post from last year discussing Louise Brooks and Anna Wintour. On my old blog, I also wrote the following about Veronica Lake:

“Of course, the actress is better known for her peekaboo hairstyle than for her onscreen persona. Nevertheless, appearing as if she had something to hide only made her look more like a Scorpio. Secretive, sexy, dangerous — all the words that are used to describe Veronica Lake could be used to describe most well-dressed Scorpio femme fatales. And except for Sally Field and Whoopi Goldberg, Scorpio women usually don’t get famous for playing nuns.”

A signature hairstyle is a Scorpio thing. Like Aquarius, Scorpio is a fixed sign. Generally, I encourage people born under fixed signs to not be so fixed, but that’s not always the case. Not everyone has to be leader where fashion is concerned. Some people are better off doing whatever it is that they do best. If that means adopting a one-of-a-kind style that rarely changes, that’s fine.

Scorpions are not the trendiest creatures of the zodiac. Individuals born under the sign may not create a cultural phenomenon with a signature hairstyle like Aquarius natives Mia Farrow, Farrah Fawcett-Major or Jennifer Aniston. Yet they can possess an iconic look that is associated with them and them alone. In fact, I recommend that they do find a style that they can call their own.

It worked for Veronica Lake. Honestly, all I remember about the actress is her hairstyle. I suppose that’s better than nothing.
