Yesterday was an interesting day. Little things got under my skin more than they should have. I was fine when I was left to my own devices (as I predicted in my previous post), but I found almost everyone else in my orbit to be completely insufferable.

This morning I had a look at my chart to see if I had missed something that would have made me feel so antisocial. I realized that Mars opposed Pluto yesterday, and that the sun opposed Saturn this morning. Neither of these events happened in a place of tremendous significance in my horoscope, but both were definitely affecting me. I feel especially un-Venusian today. I expect that to change soon.

Anyway, right after I published the first part of this post, I came across an interesting article on “Café Astrology” that provides some guidance for the retrograde cycle of my ruling planet. That advice reads as follows:

“Venus Stationary Retrograde in 1st House: You are moving into a period when you may spend some time rethinking what you want to get out of the way you present yourself. As you see indicators that you are not maximizing your personal image, you have the opportunity to prune, trim, reshape, or even redesign the way you appear both physically and personality-wise. There could be a new you in the making, or just a more refined and efficient version of what went before. Under any circumstances, give yourself a second look so you can decide if you appear to be living up to your maximum potential. Appearances can be everything, and keeping them up can be a personal statement of your inner value.”

Nothing about this passage surprised me whatsoever. In fact, the last line sort of sums up my mantra as a fashion astrologer who at one time made a career of urging others to use astrology craft an accurate “personal statement” of their “inner value.” As I mentioned before, Venus was stationary at the time of my birth, so I feel as if there is some symbolic significance to this phase of the planet’s retrograde cycle.

The next passage offers some advice for when the planet returns to direct motion:

“Venus Stationary Direct in 1st House: Over the past few weeks, you may have developed a bit clearer vision of how you would like to present yourself and how you want to benefit from the way people see you. As you fine-tune your image, you will also be impacting your ability to earn and benefit from the way you are viewed and judged by others (for the better). What you rearrange on the outside is just a reflection of what’s going on inside, however, and the more consistent one is with the other, the easier you will be able get what you want, when you want it.”

This morning, “what’s going on inside” isn’t all that pretty. I’m still feeling quite unsociable, and I wish that I didn’t have anything to do today. Nevertheless, as the Mars/Pluto and the sun/Saturn oppositions move out of orb, and when the sun moves out of my self-pitying twelfth house, I’ll probably cheer up a bit and start to feel Venus’ influence more acutely. That is definitely a normal state of affairs for me. I’m a Venusian character. I just want everything to be pretty, and I want everyone to get along.

I’m going to get there soon enough. In the meantime, I’m just going to go about my own business and pretend that the rest of you don’t exist. Whatever works, right?
