Trump Supporters (source: Macleans)

Here’s a photo of some idiotic Trump supporters screaming at the top of their lungs as they hold signs that describe themselves as “the silent majority.”

The reason that I’m using this image to illustrate this post is that I’ve got looking good on my mind. I just got back from my vacation to the United States of America where I got a first hand look at what being an American idiot does to your looks.

Don’t get me wrong: there are plenty of hideous people in Canada, both literally and figuratively. But it’s a different kind of hideousness that plagues America. People don’t take care of themselves as well south of the border as we Canadians do. Up here, people try to get to the root of their problems when they begin to affect their appearance. In the USA, they want a quick fix to deal with their issues when they’re not trying to blame someone else for their troubles. For instance, I thought I looked a little tired around my eyes yesterday, so I stayed in bed for an extra hour this morning. Down there, people abuse their ridiculous health insurance plans to get on prescription drugs to fix something as simple as puffy eyes. It’s a well-documented problem. They spend more on health-care per capita to achieve outcomes that do not support the argument that spending more money results in a healthier populace.

But what’s worse is that you can see it with your own two eyes. People look unhealthy down there. That’s just my subjective opinion, but I’m sure I’m not the only person who believes that.

Anyway, Venus moved into Capricorn this morning where it will remain until March 6 because of its upcoming retrograde cycle. That’s great news for a Capricorn like me who has Libra for a rising sign. The prettiest planet of all will have me making practical changes to my routine that will likely result in a more-pleasing appearance. Perhaps I’ll get to the bottom of why my eyes are still puffy a week after my vacation. It might actually have something to do with my recent flu shot and an overenthusiastic response from my immune system.

What I won’t do is visit a doctor to find a quick fix to a problem that requires an actual change to my lifestyle. I’m not going to pop a pill or book a cosmetic procedure that might provide me with some short-term relief when what I need to do is to play the long game. Capricorn is the sign of the long game. With Venus transiting the sign for four months, time is on my side.

Time is on everyone’s side during this upcoming cycle because Venus won’t be the only planet making its way through the sign of the goat: it’s just the one planet that will make it easier for us to find pleasure in the task of taking care of ourselves. So, if you can, make a long-term plan to embrace a healthier lifestyle. Pay heed to the old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” And whenever you can, try to let go of the hate that is seething inside of you. Nothing is going to make you uglier on the outside than being ugly on the inside. Just look at Donald Trump and all the people who still worship at his altar. I know, right?

Venus enters Capricorn this evening where it will remain until January 2. Over the next four weeks, be kind to your body and make practical choices when it comes to your beauty routine. As the saying goes, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
