Star Struck Style

The north node made its backward move into the eighth house of my horoscope yesterday.

I’d like to put a little more stock into north node transits than I do because I understand how important they are in different astrological traditions. However, looking back at the last few north node transits that have had an impact on my chart, I can’t honestly say that I’ve noticed a big difference when the nodes have changed houses or conjoined my natal planets. I’ve been giving them a chance to impress me with their influence, and they haven’t been living up to the hype.

This blog has provided me with a virtual diary so that I can track changes to my horoscope, and even though I’ve been practicing astrology for more than three decades, I’ve been amazed by what I’ve discovered by recording my impressions of the cosmic events as they occur. Yet I am constantly underwhelmed by the transits of the nodes. For instance, I just read an interpretation of the north node’s transit through the ninth house on 12andus.com that didn’t reflect my experiences over the last couple of years whatsoever. Normally, that would be my one of my go-to sites for astrological information that I’ve either never learned or forgotten over the years. I don’t want to dismiss the interpretation of the transit because it makes sense in theory, but I just can’t see how it has influenced me.

Of course, I read the site’s interpretation of the north node transiting the eighth house, but I’m going to take it with a grain of salt because I don’t believe that I’ll suddenly experience the personal transformation that the author predicts, or a sudden inheritance, or a sexual revolution. If it hasn’t happened before, why would I expect it to happen now? Also, who would leave me their money? I’m sure that everyone knows I would just spend it on Missoni socks and slot machines.

I’m sure that there are a lot of astrologers out there who still want to use the nodes to predict the future if they were planets in the horoscope, but I’m not one of them. I’ve given them the opportunity to dazzle me, and they never have. For that reason, I’m not going to get sidelined by this relatively uncommon transit. My experience has taught me that this not how the nodes work. If your experience has taught you something else, good for you . . .
