Here I am, stuck inside waiting for the weather to warm up, nursing a cold and some accompanying digestive issues just like I was in 2020 when I first published this post. My recovery from my hernia surgery has reminded me of the pandemic for several reasons, but especially because I feel as if I am at the mercy of forces that are beyond my control. Mercury speeds past my natal Chiron this weekend, and the sun moves out of my sixth house shortly afterward, so this period of inclement health should be as short-lived as the inclement spring weather. I can’t wait to be on the other side of this transit.
Mercury just formed a conjunction with my natal Chiron. Not long before that happened, it formed an opposition with my natal Pluto. My computer-generated daily horoscope on astro.com featured the latter aspect. However, I’m a little more interested in the former because I’ve spent the last couple of days with an upset stomach.
Now what does that have to do with Chiron? Chiron can reveal “old wounds” and other stressors. I do have problems with stress that I bury deep inside myself. That often manifests as problems with my gastrointestinal tract. I’ve been around long enough to know what I can eat and what I can’t eat, though. For that reason, I usually don’t have digestive problems that can’t be solved by tweaking my diet. But stress is another matter.
So, what has me stressed out? Being stuck inside, of course! This fucking weather! I forced myself to walk outside yesterday for about twenty minutes. I’m going to try to get out for a little longer today. Still, I have to try to strike a balance in between freezing my face (which is something I avoid like people in other climates avoid sun exposure), and feeling as if I’m going to never get off the couch again.
Don’t get me wrong — I’ve been exercising like crazy since this self-isolation thing began a couple of weeks ago. But for me, nothing beats being ambulatory. I’ve told people before that I wrote my first book in my head over a few months while walking to work. For me, walking is like meditation. I tune out briefly so that I can tune back in more effectively.
Curiously, when I Googled this transit, I found a site called “Astrolreport” which offered a interpretation of the aspect that included the following line:
“You may also feel more inclined to look into ways to improve your personal health and well-being, especially if you have been undergoing recent stress or a minor health setback.”
This really is a minor setback, and I should be thankful that it’s something I will soon be able to control once the weather gets back to normal in this part of the world. In the meantime, I’ve just got to avoid the worst of what Mercury’s opposition to Pluto is bringing me today. That aspect can bring up some ugliness that is buried inside me, and I would rather it didn’t. It might be wise for me to just get outside and freeze my ass off instead . . .
