I published this post last September, as the title “Back to School” suggests. Today, Jupiter made its retrograde pass over the same point referenced in the post. The aspect will recur again this coming May.
What’s interesting to me is that I had virtually forgotten about this transit when I made my new year’s resolution “to make my own little world a place I want to live in.” The astro.com interpretation of transiting Jupiter’s sextile to my natal Pluto includes the following passage:
“Either this influence will transform you by transforming your surroundings, or you will become the vehicle through which your world is transformed. Either way, you are transformed along with your friends, neighbors and your everyday environment.”
I do believe that I am in the midst of a transformation. I’m far less hard on myself since I made the decision to step away from my full-time job, and that has resulted in me feeling far more successful. What’s more, I’m rediscovering joy in things that used to bring me joy, like art, music and entertainment. I’m more eager to be around people, more interested in what I can learn from them, and vice versa. For that reason, this transformation is working both ways as suggested in the above forecast.
What a difference a year makes! At this time last January I was in a rather dark place. It took a while for me to recognize that the burn-out I was experiencing was mostly job-related. However, I didn’t make the connection between my discontent and all the other problems caused by my unhappiness. Now that I’ve put that chapter of my life behind me, I can honestly say that I have been transformed — mostly by giving myself permission to admit when I’m not happy.
Someone I admire greatly said something like “the way that you talk to yourself shapes your reality.” Over the past year, I’ve taken that advice to heart. It has transformed me and allowed me to be a happier person. Over the next few months, maybe I will be able to “become the vehicle through which your world is transformed.” And by “your world,” I mean the world of the people whom I encounter on a daily basis. The point of my new year’s resolution was clear: I need to lead by example. If I’m enjoying myself in “my own little world,” perhaps I can inspire others to do the same. Together, we can invent a reality that is more enjoyable than the one we are currently living in. As the saying goes, “misery loves company.” Conversely, joy loves company, too.
Maybe I’ll have another update on my progress when Jupiter aligns with my natal Pluto one more time in May. In the meantime, I’m going continue to welcome the idea that this transformation was what I needed in my life. I just need to remember that it’s not over yet. Things keep getting more joyful every day because I am allowing myself to find joy in my own little world again.
