I had an interesting day yesterday. Just as I walked by the Balenciaga store at the big mall near my house, I got an alert on my phone that Pierpaolo Piccioli was named as the new creative director for the Kering-owned house. A few hours later, I popped into the boutique where I met the Store Director. We discussed the appointment enthusiastically as if both of us were excited to finally meet someone else who really followed fashion.
That got me thinking to why I barely spend any time publishing posts about fashion or fashion astrology lately. The answer is that my fondness for fashion waxes and wanes like the moon. Right now, I’m fond of thinking about what I’m going to wear now that I’m working at a job that allows me to express myself with my wardrobe choices, but I’m not terribly interested in what anyone else is wearing.
Maybe that will change with a few major changes in the cosmos over the next few weeks. Saturn is about to join Neptune in Aries, and Uranus is about to enter Gemini. I can see how those shifts in the stars might affect the way we dress. In fact, I’ve already written about that topic in a series of posts I published in December titled “Bet on Punk.” I sense a revolution is coming. Nevertheless, none of those ingresses really take hold until around this time next year due to the imminent retrograde cycles of the aforementioned planets.
In the meantime, the major labels are playing musical chairs with their creative directors. Change is afoot. Change is also afoot in my horoscope. By the time the sun reaches the top of my chart in mid-July, I can see myself starting to pursue a more-creative path forward. Perhaps that will involve a more-fashionable career. Maybe I’ll start writing about fashion again, or maybe I’ll look for a job working for someone like the Balenciaga Store Director I met yesterday. It was refreshing to converse with someone who speaks the same language as me. It’s been a while.
I had already promised myself that I would wait until mid-June to see how Donald Trump’s tariff idiocy would affect the retail business before I made a major career move. July actually seems like a more propitious time for me to make a big change. I’m going to continue to try to make some connections with the sort of people who could potentially facilitate that change, especially when Venus moves into my seventh house later this week. I’m also going to keep my eyes open for the sort of opportunities that Jupiter’s ascent to the top of my chart should present. But I’m still going to exercise some caution while the fashion business sorts itself out. I don’t want to play musical chairs with my own career. I’ll leave that to the designers.
