Diplomacy (source: pexels.com)

Mercury conjoins my ascendant and moves into my seventh house in just a few minutes. The sun is already there, but it moves into my eighth house tomorrow. For at least one day, my diplomatic nature should be highlighted. I do possess Libra as my rising sign, after all. “Café Astrology” describes the two-week transit as follows:

“You tend to weigh the pros and cons of every issue during this cycle, taking into account others’ needs as well as your own. Some indecisiveness is possible now, simply because you naturally entertain opposing viewpoints. You have a strong desire to cooperate and communicate with others now. You feel most comfortable spending time with people on a one-to-one level, or with those with whom you share a personal history. Your own thoughts become clearer through dialogue with others. You may be doing public relations work, counseling, negotiating, or arbitration during this cycle. There is a lot of emphasis on communications with partners and best friends at this time. You can use the power of words to advise others or to make peace with people in your life. You are more diplomatic than usual during this transit.”

The funny thing about this forecast is that I have no desire whatsoever to “make peace with people” right now. Maybe that will change later this morning, but I doubt it. Earlier this week, Canada elected a Prime Minister who is essentially the Anti-Trump. He’s already making trade deals with countries around the world that are eager to turn their backs on the corrupt racket pretending to be a democracy known as the USA. I’m sure that he will be somewhat more diplomatic than me when dealing with the ugliness of American exceptionalism, but that’s his job. I don’t have to pretend to give a shit about the country that elected Donald Trump twice.

What I should do during this upcoming cycle is investigate the differences between my chart and the chart of our new Prime Minister, Mark Carney. He’s just a few months older than me and he grew up in my neighborhood. He went to the Catholic high school next door to my public school, so we probably had mutual friends. I’ve taken deep dives into the natal charts of friends born in the same month as Carney, and I know that we all share some generational alignments between Uranus, Pluto and Chiron.

However, that “deep dive” seems more like something I would do during the sun’s transit of my eighth house. In the meantime, I’m going to try to slap a smile on my face for the brief period of time when both the sun and Mercury are transiting my seventh house together. This is a day for cultivating relationships, not destroying them. I can do that tomorrow . . .
