Currently, all the planets in my horoscope are transiting the western hemisphere (the right side) of my chart. Astrologically speaking, that doesn’t really mean too much. Symbolically speaking, however, I’m happy to feel as if I am moving in the right direction considering the recent changes I’ve made to my life. Except for Mercury and Venus, which are currently in their short-lived retrograde cycles, every planet is moving toward the apex of my chart.

Nevertheless, Mars crosses over to the eastern hemisphere (the left side) of my chart on April 1. I’ve published a couple of posts discussing the red planet’s current retrograde cycle and its conjunctions with my midheaven. In one of them, I mentioned that I told my former boss that I wouldn’t be taking on any more responsibilities. That was essentially the beginning of the end for me at that job. I admitted that I was no longer happy there and began working on my exit strategy.

Now that I’ve moved on, it’s time for me to pay a little more attention to where I want to focus my energy in this new phase of my life. “Café Astrology” describes the aforementioned conjunction as follows:

“You are more than willing now to take charge of your life, particularly on a professional level. It’s a time when you face your responsibilities head-on rather than avoid or ignore them. You may be called upon to take charge or take the lead in some significant way. Your energy for professional matters is very strong now.”

The same website interprets the subsequent transit of Mars through my tenth house as follows:

“This transit stimulates your ambition and/or your desire to be recognized for your accomplishments. Whether it’s professional or personal, you are likely to have an increased desire for others to notice you. This can be a good time to become self-employed or start a business if other factors (and Mars itself) are favorable. Conflicts with those in authority are possible now. You may pour more energy into self-promotion or business/career activities.”

I actually start a new part-time job on April 2. I will be working from home helping out my old boss all week, as well, since no one else has been hired to replace me.

The timing of all of this is quite uncanny, especially because I don’t consider Mars to be such a dynamic force in my horoscope. As a Capricorn, however, the tenth house cusp is highlighted as a point that resonates with my Saturnian nature. Realizing this makes me want to pay attention to what might happen when Jupiter makes similar back-and-forth moves over my midheaven at the end of this year. That is something I need to investigate.

In the meantime, I’m just going to enjoy the feeling that my life is on a figurative upswing. For a little while longer, the only way is up.
