Mercury enters my earthy sixth house this evening. Due to its upcoming retrograde cycle, it will remain in that part of my chart until the beginning of May. “Café Astrology” offers the following prediction for the annual transit:
“This is a good placement for Mercury, as it is the natural ruler of the sixth house. It’s an excellent period for sorting out the details of your daily existence. You are inclined to make to-do lists, pay bills and sort out clutter, and to do detail work on the job. Health matters are most certainly on your brain as well, and you could be thinking of scheduling check-ups or busy researching ways to improve your health. You may also show a keener interest in improving your basic skills. Your approach to work during this cycle is pleasant, happy, and logical for the most part, unless you allow worry or scattered energy to enter the picture. You are inclined to want to learn new work skills, or to improve your skills and output in terms of work. There is likely to be more activity, movement, contact, and communications with co-workers now. You tend to take more interest in organizing your working environment — and this is an excellent time to do so, as you are especially objective and intelligent when it comes to getting a handle on your daily affairs and all of the ‘little things’ that contribute to a feeling of efficiency and competency. Menial tasks become more prominent. Watch, however, for tension or idle chit-chat interfering with your work output during this cycle.”
I will appreciate the focus on “health matters.” I’ve been feeling the effects of my light therapy lamp and the change of weather in this part of the world. I’ve also been trying to get to the bottom of some other aches and pains that made me reluctant to work out as much as I have in the past. Honestly, moving around more now that it’s not so horribly cold outside will probably make the most difference. Still, that doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t be lifting more weights and doing more yoga. With yesterday’s new moon arriving in my egocentric fifth house, I feel as if I need to get to work on those superficial concerns that impact my well-being. To me, looking good and feeling good go hand-in-hand.
At the same time, I will also appreciate a more “down-to-earth” approach to my current job that. I’m constantly battling my management team because they expect me to meet lofty goals even when they fail to provide me with the tools to meet those goals. I feel as if I’m a gardener trying to prepare the soil before growing season, and I feel as if they’re always asking “Where are the fruits of your labor?” Their unrealistic expectations of me and my fellow supervisors will be their undoing because they fail to recognize our expertise — unless, of course, they start to listen to us. With the earthy sixth house highlighted in my horoscopes over the next couple of months, perhaps I’ll finally get through to them. Stranger things have happened.
Anyway, I’m encouraged by this forecast and what it portends for the new few weeks. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve got good things galore occurring in my horoscope throughout this coming spring. I’d like to believe that last night’s new moon might be the fresh start I need to look at my future with a more-confident outlook. Maybe growing season is already here.
I guess I’ll find out soon enough . . .
