“A Playful Spirit” is the title of my astro.com horoscope for today describing Mercury’s imminent ingress into my fifth house.

Mercury is traveling quickly through the sky right now, so this transit will only last for two weeks. Nevertheless, I’m thrilled to have another planet exiting my fourth house. My feelings of being pent up this time of year are exacerbated by fourth-house transits that occur while I’m actually pent up. The weather is terribly cold where I live and I feel like I’m a prisoner in my own house sometimes. That is one of the reasons that the pandemic was so hard on me. It started during an unseasonably cold spring while half the planets in the sky were transiting my fourth house.

Anyway, this shift in the stars bodes well for me. The prediction on astro.com reads as follows:

“This is a good time for expressing your thoughts to yourself and for communicating them to others. You can make clear to people your stand on any matter and explain very effectively any issue that is on your mind. You will also be inclined to use your mind for amusement, that is for reading, writing and playing games that require mental agility. Often the ideas that come into your head now will have no special function except that they are fun to play with. Just be careful not to transfer this playful spirit to your communications with others to the extent that you play with people for your own amusement. However, during this time you are more inclined to release your inner energy outward than to allow energy input to come from others. Thus you may be rather insensitive to people’s needs if you are not careful.”

I’d be happy just to feel lighter this time of year, and that is why this forecast is somewhat encouraging. What’s more, the sun moves into my fifth house on Monday. That will leave a single planet in my fourth house, and that planet is Pluto. It’s going to be there for the next couple of decades, so I’d better get used to the way it contributes to this feeling of being “boxed in.” Like the cats in the photo above, I may have to learn to enjoy being confined occasionally.

But not today! I’m going to resolve to let my mind wander into places that are far less serious than the dark places I’ve been frequenting over the past few weeks. I’m eager to step into the warmth and brightness that the fifth house represents. And maybe a brighter outlook will attract some brighter opportunities. I guess I’ll find out soon enough!
