“Obvious Steps” is the title of my horoscope on astro.com describing transiting Saturn’s imminent opposition to my natal Uranus.
In 1965 and 1966, Uranus and Pluto met on one side of the sky and opposed Chiron on the other side of the sky. I was born on January 6, 1966. Having Saturn conjoining my natal Chiron fifty-nine years later also means that it’s opposing my natal Pluto: the two heavenly bodies are only fourteen minutes apart from being in an exact opposition in my natal chart. Uranus is about a degree away from the axis formed by Pluto and Chiron in my horoscope, so as soon as Saturn begins to move off this axis, it begins to move into opposition with my natal Uranus.
Although I feel Chiron transits quite acutely (I’ve published several posts about Chiron in the past), Saturn and Uranus are the two planets in this configuration that are personalized in my horoscope: Saturn is the ruler of my Capricorn sun sign, and Uranus resides in my eleventh house: the house over which it rules in modern astrology. For that reason, this is the transit that should affect me the most. The aforementioned prediction on astro.com reads as follows:
“This influence can have two different effects. Either you will succeed in making your life an original statement of your uniqueness, or you will be in a state of extreme tension because of forces that are constantly obstructing your self-expression. Most people experience the latter effect, at least in part. From time to time almost everyone settles into patterns that are quite rigid and inappropriate to themselves.
All around you are persons whom you are involved with and structures that you created, representing your efforts to build order and predictability into your life. But you are not a static organism, and you need creative change to keep you alive. At this time you are likely to feel that your life structures are oppressive. The most structured aspects of your life, such as your job, your marriage and relationships and your daily routine, are all potential sources of trouble, insofar as they have become dull routines.
You are irritated by people who try to tell you what to do. You feel that you have had enough, and you may be tempted to throw everything away and leave. This influence very often breaks up marriages and other relationships that have become dull, oppressive and routine. However, even the best relationships may have to be substantially redefined at this time. Don’t try to sit back, grin and bear it. Some steps obviously have to be taken, but the trick is to take them calmly and not fly off the handle. It is necessary only to make changes, not to wreck everything.
The readjustments you make now can go a long way toward making your life more interesting. Achieving a balance between order, discipline and predictability on the one side and original experience on the other is one of the greatest challenges in life.”
This is exactly where I am right now both personally and professionally. Taking a week off to take care of my mental health has shown me that there is nothing that I need more right now than to break out of this dull routine. Last week, I made some “readjustments” to improve my current situation and to set myself up for success should I choose to make a sudden change. Now I can’t think of anything else.
I don’t know how the other people who were born in 1965 and 1966 will be handling this alignment. I suppose that it depends upon whether or not the planets involved are personalized, and also where they reside in one’s natal chart. Saturn is currently transiting my fifth house opposing Uranus in the eleventh. That’s why the line from the passage above resonates with me so much: “All around you are persons whom you are involved with and structures that you created, representing your efforts to build order and predictability into your life. But you are not a static organism, and you need creative change to keep you alive.”
I’m not only craving creative change, but I’m taking the obvious steps that will be necessary for me to embrace it when it arrives. And at the same time, I am heeding the instructions the universe is providing me as Saturn conjoins my natal Chiron. That alignment is described as follows on astro.com:
“During this time, you increasingly draw on defense mechanisms that you have acquired in the past to protect yourself from injury. Perhaps old wounds are now making themselves felt again and you are once more confronted with your individual inadequacies. The temptation is great to react with the usual defense patterns, but this does not resolve the pain. It doesnʹt help you to constantly justify yourself or make accusations against others. You now have a chance to look behind your own barricades. You cannot increase your self-esteem by covering up your own weaknesses and sensitivities. On the contrary, you should stand by your vulnerability and perceive and integrate it as part of your personality.
During this time, you should try to detach yourself from structures or authorities that no longer reflect your own nature. Also, donʹt let old feelings of guilt or responsibility keep you from doing so. If you avoid an upcoming confrontation now by conforming to the norms of your partner or another authority figure, you will prevent an important developmental step in this relationship. In addition, you will consolidate a relationship that would have needed change for a long time anyway. Stay true to your own inner authority.“
I am ready to detach myself from my current situation. I am ready to stay true to my inner authority. The past couple of weeks have been a revelation to me. I’d love to know if anyone else from my generation is feeling the same. Or maybe the natal house placement of these planets has you feeling something else altogether. Whatever the case, let me know in the comments section or on one of my social media pages. Maybe we can figure this all out together.
