Transiting Jupiter forms a square with my natal Saturn today.
I already experienced this transit back in July. The funny thing about this rather uncommon transit is that my natal Saturn corresponds to the midpoint between my nearly-conjunct natal Mars and Venus, so while this square is weighing on me, I’ve got a couple of beneficial trines occurring simultaneously.
For some reason, though, it’s tougher on me to get through this transit in the dead of winter. It’s already so dark where I live, and this retrograde return of Jupiter to the point it crossed last summer doesn’t exactly make me feel any lighter or brighter. “Café Astrology” describes the transit as follows:
“You’re doing a balancing act between an urge to grow and the need to set limits. As well, your optimism seems to compete with the need to tame expectations. Getting serious or disciplining and moderating your behavior may be in order, which can dampen your enthusiasm. It can be difficult to accept blocks, delays, or limits, but doing so may ultimately put you ahead. This is a time when you become painfully aware of where you’ve overextended yourself or overdone it. However, remind yourself that you’ll be more prosperous and satisfied later if you attend to some details now.”
To be honest, this isn’t a terrible horoscope to read a couple of days after the arrival of the new year when I’ve already resolved “to grow” and “to set limits.” Knowing that the aspect will abate in a few days also makes it easier to accept. What’s more, Jupiter moves within a degree of forming a trine with my natal Mars in about ten days from now, and then the planet stations just twelve minutes away from an exact trine with Mars. “Café Astrology” has this to say about that long-lasting transit:
“You feel more confident than usual, and you have a dynamic energy that should be harnessed and directed into something productive. This is a ‘lucky’ time for you (all things equal), although the good energy you attract is most likely due to your own positive expectations.
Be aware of opportunities that may present themselves at this time, possibly from a male acquaintance or with regards to travel, business, or physical activities. Your competitive spirit is high, but it’s a non-grating kind that goes over well with others.”
So, I suppose that I could dampen my enthusiasm for a few days. Knowing that things are going to get better very soon is encouraging. Looking back at the blog posts I published in late July and early August when Jupiter made its first pass over this degree is also encouraging. I was feeling upbeat and optimistic at the time. Right now, I could use some more of that. I could also use some of the luck that Jupiter’s trine to Mars augurs, but that’s a story for another post.
Things are looking up . . .
