December 31 is Chemena Kamali’s birthday.

I get excited when I stumble across an Instagram post from a designer that confirms their birthday. Sometimes I go years without discovering the zodiac signs of people who are superstars in my universe. Every once in a while, I also discover that they are Capricorns. That makes me even more excited.

If Kamali was born in Germany on December 31, 1981 as sources suggest, her chart makes a lot of sense. Both the sun and Mercury are in Capricorn, Venus is in Aquarius, and the moon is in Pisces. Mars and Saturn both reside in Libra, and Jupiter is in Scorpio. Her chart forms a shallow bowl configuration, with all the planets in a 150° wedge. Yet no planets are conjunct. Everything is spaced out and all six sign from Libra through Pisces contain at least one planet.

Since she joined Chloé, her star has been steadily rising. Chloé has always been associated with Boho looks, and I attribute that style to Aquarius in both of my books. For that reason, it’s no surprise to see Venus in Aquarius. I suspect that it is prominently placed in her horoscope — perhaps in the first house or conjunct the midheaven from the tenth house. However, without a time of birth, I can’t really do anything but speculate. It is interesting to me, however, that she shares her birthday with Diane von Furstenberg. I think anyone can see the similarities between the two designers and the way that they like to dress both themselves and their clients.

Kamali’s first few shows for Chloé were very feminine and maybe even romantic. With her moon in Pisces, I can see her playing with gender roles in the future. She has already made Timothee Chalamet a Chloé muse when the label doesn’t even have men’s line. Curiously, Chalamet is also a Capricorn with the same sun, Mercury, Venus and moon signs as Kamali. The odds of the pair sharing that configuration are 1 in 2160.

Anyway, I’m excited to see what the designer does next now that I know that she shares my sun sign. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been thrilled to welcome people like Richard Quinn and Simon Porte Jacquemus into my club. Chemena Kamali is a welcome addition to the Capricorn pantheon.

Now I just have to find out Louise Trotter’s sign . . .
