It’s been an interesting couple of days since the American election. I’ve turned off the cable news shows because I no longer want to contribute to the corporate media environment that created Donald Trump. I’ve also tried to back away from social media because my feeds are filled with so-called experts providing their election post-mortems. I don’t need to read that bullshit. Just like the astrologers who justify their beliefs after the fact, these people are far too fond of the sound of their own voices. At least I admitted that my prediction was wrong. I thought that Karma was going to catch up with Donald Trump. Instead, Karma caught up with a country that revels in its own “exceptionalism,” even when it’s proving itself to be the most corrupt place on earth. America was bought and sold to the highest bidders long ago.
To be honest, though, I haven’t been able to overcome my social media addiction entirely. I’ve been checking into Threads just to see what’s going on with the people I follow. Many of them are claiming that they need a break from the BS, too. Just like me, they have declared to the universe that it’s time to take a step back and invest in some self-care. I had resolved to do just that during last week’s new moon, and I feel as if I’ve done a decent job so far.
Curiously, Venus enters Capricorn on Monday where it will remain until December 7. When I looked back on the three other blog posts that I’ve published about the ingress of the ruler of my ascendant into my sun sign, I’ve discussed taking better care of myself time and time again. I’ve resolved to do more yoga, to eat a healthier diet, to take better care of my skin, etc. I was already doing that, so moving into this new phase shouldn’t be difficult for me.
What I might want to do differently during this upcoming cycle is to share my achievements with those whom I might inspire at a time when people could use some extra encouragement. In my real life as a group fitness trainer, I do this every time I walk into the gym where I work. The people there could use my help because they are in the same boat as me. We’re all stressed out from our proximity to the stupidest country on earth and our own provincial government’s corruption.
So, maybe I could help the people in my orbit find a way to be happier with themselves at a time when it’s not so easy to be happy. When I look in the mirror, I don’t want to wonder if I’m part of the problem. Alternatively, I would like to convince myself that I can only help to fix the problem when I’m healthy and happy with who I am, no matter how superficial that might sound. Right now, the stars are providing me with the opportunity to work on the things that empower me to do better in my own little world. I would be a fool to ignore them.
