I was just looking at my chart to find out how long I’m going to be in the thick of my second Saturn return. I got a taste of the rare astrological event earlier this year when the ringed planet made its initial contact with my natal Saturn. However, that was before the planet turned retrograde. Earlier this month it moved within one degree of a conjunction its natal position. On November 1, the retrograde conjunction will be exact. On November 29, the final conjunction will occur after the planet turns direct mid-month. Just before Christmas arrives, the aspect will start to dissipate as Saturn finally moves out of this one-degree orb.
I suppose that some people would view this cycle as something that was oppressive and restrictive. I guess that it’s lucky for me that I’m a Capricorn who couldn’t be happier that this slowdown is occurring simultaneously with the change of seasons. I’m ready to give up on gardening for a few months. It’s such a big time commitment for me. But I’m also in a good place astrologically with the sun in my dynamic first house and Mars in my hard-working tenth house. I have just the right balance of elements in my horoscope at the moment to look at the next two months as an opportunity to clean up my act. I’ve already been eating better since I returned from my vacation. I’ve got back into the weight room at the gym, too, and I’ve addressed my ever-present budgetary concerns (I’ve always liked to spend my money before I make it). I’ve embraced my inherent “slow and steady” nature that makes me pleased that I’m inching forward all the time without suffering any setbacks. I’m the tortoise from the fable “The Tortoise and the Hare.” I know that I’m going to win if I just keep moving. Yeah, I might have Saturn on my back, but I’ve got all these other planets perfectly placed at a time when I could use a little extra help from the Cosmos.
For that reason, I’m going to consider myself lucky. Things could be much worse. During the pandemic lockdowns, for instance, I felt as if the planets were ganging up on me as they gathered around my IC. This is a much different feeling. A Canadian winter typically has me housebound, but it also presents me with an opportunity to focus on all those things I ignore during gardening season. I want to focus on those things now. I need to focus on those things now. The timing of these events just seems right.
I hope that I’m right about this upcoming cycle! I guess I’ll find out soon enough . . .
