Jupiter moves into my ninth house for a brief stay on August 7. It turns retrograde three months later and returns to my eighth house on December 13.
The ninth house is ruled by Jupiter, so this is considered to be the place where the planet performs at its best. My natal Jupiter resides in the ninth house, but it’s also in its detriment in Gemini, and also in mutual reception to Gemini in Sagittarius in my third house. It’s complicated!
Anyway, I’m the first person to admit that Jupiter’s promises are often nothing but hot air. Still, if the “greater benefic” is going to endow me with its cosmic blessings, this should be the time that it happens.
I looked up the transit on my go-to website for succinct interpretations of transits, “Café Astrology,” and I wasn’t surprised by anything I read there. The author interprets the once-every-twelve-year event as follows:
“An expansive, optimistic attitude is with you now, as you are less concerned about petty problems and inconveniences. You may have opportunities to travel, study, expand your horizons, and meet people who are of diverse backgrounds. You tend to become more intellectually curious, and academic matters go well.
You are open to learning, particularly about subjects that you may normally take little interest in. Furthering your education in any capacity is possible and is likely to be very successful now. Success in business is likely through expansion or connection with foreigners.
Advertising and promotional activities are highly favored and could be one of the main keys to business success right now. Legal matters may be especially favorable for you now. Authors could publish their works, expand their audience, and receive favorable feedback for their work. Educational and travel opportunities expand your horizons. Teaching or learning is favored, and writing flows easily.
This is also an excellent period for positive dealings with in-laws! Your mind is more expansive and tolerant, and you are under less stress than usual. You are less inclined to sweat the small stuff. Your priorities are easier to see, as you gain perspective on your life and its meaning. Your creative juices flow, and you generally benefit from robust health. Faith in your purpose and in a higher meaning to your life helps to ease stress and open doors for you.”
I was happy to read that I will be “less inclined to sweat the small stuff.” For the last few months while Jupiter has been moving through my eighth house, I’ve been constantly annoyed by the Virgo natives in my orbit, and I’ve been obsessing about all the trouble that they tend to cause me. The eighth house does rule over the notion of “obsession,” so it isn’t a surprise that someone or something would become the focus of my pent-up annoyance (I almost typed “pent-up rage,” but I’m not there just yet).
Maybe I’ll be able to put this grudge aside once Jupiter enters my ninth house as my mind becomes “more expansive and tolerant.” In the meantime, I’m going to take some time over the next three weeks to consider why most of the difficulties in my professional life are caused by people who share the same zodiac sign. I’ve had this love/hate relationship with Aries individuals in the past, but lately it’s the Virgo natives who are driving me crazy. They do have both retrograde Saturn and retrograde Neptune opposing their sign, so maybe there is an astrological connection to the way they are behaving lately and the way I am reacting to their behavior.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to revisit this topic soon with some profound insights on that cosmic connection. Or maybe I’ll just forget about it all once Jupiter moves into my ninth house. Frankly, either scenario would be fine with me . . .
