I’ve been trying to find out Matthieu Blazy’s birthday for ages. Finally, he posted about it on Instagram. Today he turns forty.
I pulled up a noon birth chart for Brussels even though I’m not sure of his birth time or his exact place of birth. Nevertheless, I am able to ascertain that the Bottega Veneta designer possesses a Cancer sun, Mercury and Venus, a Gemini moon, a Scorpio Mars and Saturn, and a Capricorn Jupiter. I was also able to confirm that he shares his date of birth with Khloé Kardashian.
There are some similarities in his chart to the horoscope of Hedi Slimane: another fashion designer with heavy Cancer influences. Yet Blazy seems to be much more forward-looking than Slimane and less likely to rely on nostalgia to sell a product. With Mars and Saturn nearly conjunct in Scorpio, and Jupiter in Capricorn opposite Venus in Cancer by less than a degree, the designer’s reverence for the heritage of the brand he represents may sometimes be at odds with his own desire to push Bottega Veneta into the future. But he seems to balance those elements well, much like Tomas Maier did when he was the Creative Director for the luxury powerhouse. I have a similar dichotomy in my natal chart with my Capricorn sun and Cancer moon. Perhaps that explains my obsession with Bottega Veneta and the impeccable craftsmanship of their leather goods.
I’d love to put the houses of Matthieu Blazy’s horoscope into context by securing an accurate time of birth and place of birth. However, if it took me this long just to find out his birthday, it’s unlikely that I’ll ever discover that information. Nevertheless, getting a look into his chart makes me feel as if I now know what makes him tick. It also makes me wonder why I barely write about fashion astrology any more. But I know that my interest in my own area of expertise waxes and wanes like the moon itself. Lately, I’ve been spending more time on vogue.com. Perhaps things are changing. I guess I’ll find out soon enough . . .
