Mars enters my fifth house tomorrow. If I thought that counting down the days before my trip was bad already, it’s only going to get worse.

The fifth house is a fun place for Mars to be. Even if it results in diminished self-discipline, it also results in higher energy levels. I could use a boost. “Café Astrology” describes the five-week long transit as follows:

“This is a very self-expressive time when you have lots of energy, but not necessarily self-discipline to match. You have more energy at your disposal to express yourself creatively, through activities with children, romantic activities, hobbies, or sports. Your love life may step up a notch, and this could be an especially passionate time. You tend to put more energy into play and pleasure! Be careful not to burn the candle at both ends. Also, watch out for a tendency to want to gamble. You are more playful than usual, and especially magnetic.”

I guess it’s good that I’ve booked a gambling junket during the time that the universe is encouraging me to gamble. I’m actually thrilled to be entering this phase while the daylight hours are increasing and the weather is warming up. To have a vacation booked at the same time seems rather serendipitous.

It’s also going to be nice to have just Pluto in my fourth house again. For the last couple of months, the part of my chart associated with my actual house has been the most active sector of my horoscope. I’ve spent way too much time at home trying to avoid the worst of the winter weather while attempting to save money for my trip. I’m so eager to get out and have some fun. The energy boost associated with this ingress could not have come at a better time of year.

So, this is all good news, right? I do have Mars creeping toward a conjunction with my natal Saturn (a resident of my fifth house), but I’m not the sort of astrologer who looks at an aspect like that as a bad thing. It’s more of a cosmic reality check than anything else. I’ve gone through it before and I’ll go though it again. Having it occur during my vacation isn’t going to slow me down.

I’m so ready for this change of season. I’m so ready for my vacation. It can’t happen soon enough!
