This upcoming Friday’s new moon in my fourth house signifies a time to focus on my “foundation.” Not the peach-colored foundation in the photo above, but rather the foundation that I find myself standing on in my daily life — whether that’s the floor of the house where I live, my own sturdy legs, the backs of my ancestors, or even the relationships I’ve built with the people that I choose to call my family. “Café Astrology” interprets the annual event as follows:
“Home and family may be a focus during this phase. On a personal, developmental level, this is a time to not only listen to what is in your gut, but to pay homage to those feelings! What makes you feel safe and secure? This is the time to explore and develop a sense of inner security. Although the fourth house is associated with the home, it is an angular, cardinal house that stirs up activity. This is a time of re-organization and heightened awareness of your roots, issues of intimacy and vulnerability, and it’s an excellent time to come in touch with your feelings and needs. Focusing on your support system and the manner in which you support others is also probable. This is a good time to make long-range plans for the future, to do any type of re-organizing or even re-modeling of the home or home environment, and for family-related activities.”
I’ve also got Mercury, Mars and Pluto transiting my fourth house, and Venus will move into that part of my chart on Sunday. My fourth house hasn’t been this crowded since the pandemic began!
What’s interesting to me is the suggestion that I should “pay homage” to my gut feelings during this phase. More than any other part of my chart, I associate the fourth house with the notion of instinct. For about a week, I’ll have at least five planets urging me to follow my instincts and to act upon my gut feelings. Perhaps I’ll be able to explore why I do what I do. Maybe I’ll be able to ask myself why I chose to illustrate this blog post with a photo of some hideous, peach-colored foundation when I’m discussing a different kind of foundation altogether?
All joking aside, I’m not the most introspective person, so I do feel out of my element when planets crowd together in any of the houses connected to the water signs. Thankfully, none of the planets besides Pluto are going to linger in this section of the sky for too long. With the days getting longer and the intensity of the sun increasing every day, being stuck inside my house appeals to me even less than being stuck inside my head. For that reason, I’m going to take the opportunity this new moon provides to focus on what will get me out of my house in the future. My “long-range plans” must include the one thing that will make me feel “safe and secure,” and that is financial stability. I made a resolution during the last new moon to make the most out of what I already have and to stop spending money, and I need to continue along that path. So, that’s the plan for the next few weeks!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go choose a new foundation color . . .
