Star Struck Style

Hot on the heels of republishing a post about Jane Fonda that I wrote a few years ago, I started thinking about the time that the two of us met. It was a day or two before New Year’s Day in 1981 (at a time in history when you couldn’t turn around without running into another magazine with Brooke Shields on the cover). Later that same week, just a day before my fifteenth birthday, something else of tremendous significance happened in my life. For that reason, I thought that I should look up my horoscope just to see what was going on in the stars at that time.

When I punched January 1, 1981 into astro.com, I discovered that Jupiter and Saturn were in an exact conjunction at exactly 9°30″ Libra. The so-called Great Conjunction was occurring at that very moment. What are the odds of that?

These conjunctions of Jupiter and Saturn only happen every twenty years, so this was the first time that I was experiencing one of these generational astrological events — even if I didn’t know it at the time. What’s more, Mars was exactly conjunct with my progressed sun at 0°50″ Aquarius, 25″ away from where the Great Conjunction of 2020 occurred exactly three years ago today. Another weird coincidence!

Just yesterday, I published a post entitled “On the cusp of something . . .” where I described how I keep experiencing coincidences that make me feel as if I’m experiencing some sort of strange cosmic synchronicity in my life. Looking up this significant week in my life that occurred more than forty years ago and discovering what was going on in the sky blows my mind. I don’t want to exaggerate what happened at that time, but I can literally say that I was “born” that week. I’ve known that about myself ever since, but I had never thought to look into my horoscope until just a moment ago.

It’s just all so uncanny, and it makes me believe in astrology more than ever, even though there is so much about the subject that I can barely wrap my head around. More importantly, this discovery makes me feel as if I’m in tune with the universe, even when I’m not exactly sure what song it’s singing half the time.
