Pantone has named Peach Fuzz as its 2024 “Color of the Year.”

I get warm, Taurean vibes from this color and many other soft pastels. It makes sense that a color like this was chosen while Jupiter, the cosmic trend-maker, is transiting Taurus. In both of my books, I associate the idea of tactility with the sign more than any other. Curiously, the CNN story that discusses this year’s color choice by the Pantone Institute also mentions tactility, warmth and comfort:

“According to their research, the shade that will come to define 2024 is ‘Peach Fuzz’ — a light, fruity tone that conjures peace and serenity. ‘We’re going through a lot of turmoil in our lives, and we have a need for a color that’s nurturing,’ Pantone color specialist Leatrice Eisman told CNN over video call. ‘It’s a warm and cozy shade. And it’s very tactile. We feel that at a time like this, tactility is really important — to touch other people and gather them into our homes.'”

I’m not sure that I’ll be “touching people” in 2024, but I am sure that I won’t be purchasing any new clothing this color. Without a doubt, it is the worst color for me. When I wear soft orange or yellow, I look terrible — especially in summer when I have a tan. Peach and pale yellow are really the only two colors I consciously avoid while shopping. Yet I do have walls painted a very similar color in my house. I like soft, citrus tones in my decor. I do find them comforting.

Jupiter will be in Gemini next year when the 2025 color is announced. I expect something a little brighter with a little more impact. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a neon pink or a similar electric tone take the title.

I guess I’ll have to wait and see . . .
