Saturn (source: Space Facts)

In a year from now, I’ll be experiencing stationary Saturn conjoining my natal Saturn. While the first conjunction between transiting Saturn and my natal Saturn occurs in March 2024, it’s this retrograde contact that will be more concerning to me because I’m going to be feeling the aspect so acutely. From October 8 to December 21, the conjunction will be within a 1° orb.

Because I’m a Capricorn, I believe that I handle Saturn transits quite well. I appreciate the slow and steady pace that comes with Saturn transits: I’m not exactly the most spontaneous person you’ve ever met. Still, I have experienced the “wet blanket” effect of Saturn’s transits before. Just a few years ago on this blog, I was complaining incessantly when Saturn parked itself over my natal sun in a similar situation. I felt as if my ability to express myself creatively was somewhat impaired at that time. I lost my passion for putting myself “out there.”

I don’t believe that this upcoming alignment will be as inhibitive. However, I do believe that it’s going to shine a light on some things that I already know about myself, including the discomfort I feel while revealing my vulnerabilities to others. For that reason, I’m going to start exploring exactly what Saturn symbolizes in my horoscope and exactly what a Saturn return should mean to someone like me.

Once in a while, I get sort of serious about astrology on this blog, and this is going to be one of those times. Stay tuned for more.
