“People” magazine has just named Patrick Dempsey the “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2023.
Patrick Dempsey is nearly my astrological twin because we’re born one week apart. However, there are a few big differences between our natal charts that make it obvious to me why I will never be named the “Sexiest Man Alive.”
Of course, our natal moons are in different signs. Mine is in Cancer and his is in Libra. We also have Mercury in different signs. Mine is in Sagittarius and his is in Capricorn. Finally, our rising signs are different, too. His is in Taurus and mine is in Libra.
The layout of planets in our charts explains a lot about our personalities. His midheaven is about a degree away from his tenth-house sun. Curiously, it’s also a degree away from being on the exact opposite side of the zodiac from my Cancer midheaven. Our charts are nearly mirror images of one another where everything is reversed. While my ninth-house moon is the most elevated planet of my bottom-heavy chart, the sun is just one of many planets situated around the top of his chart. I can see why Patrick Dempsey chose a career where ego-gratification goes hand-in-hand with ambition while I chose a career where I was lauded for my style of communication. I’m always going on and on about my third-house sun and how that defines my character and how I choose to express myself to the world.
Anyway, I’ve never shunned the spotlight, but I’ve never been entirely comfortable in it. I can see that in my horoscope. I can also see how Patrick Dempsey revels in the public persona he has created with both the sun and Venus in his tenth house. He’s probably enjoying being the “Sexiest Man Alive” just a couple of months before his fifty-eighth birthday even more than he would have if he had earned the title a few decades ago. We’re both well-preserved old goats, but he’s just a little more eager to find his place in the sun, as the saying goes.
So, that’s why I won’t ever be named “People” magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” despite my comparable sexiness. It’s just not in the stars. At least not yet . . .
